Vol. 155 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fencing of Mayo Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state (a) the amount of money originally budgeted for by the Land Commission for the provision of fences under the re-arrangement scheme for the Westlands-Ballyheane area, near Castlebar, County Mayo, and (b) the actual amount spent on the provision of fences under the scheme.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the Land Commission have left only half-completed the fencing of a number of the holdings under the re-arrangement scheme for the Peyton Estate, Bally-heane, County Mayo, and if so, if the commission will take immediate steps to remedy this position.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 6 and 7 together. In connection with the re-arrangement of the townlands of Westland and Cornaveagh on the Peyton Estate, a sum of £1,594 has been expended on fencing to date. It has been found necessary to sanction an additional free grant of £804 for this work which it is hoped to complete at an early date.
