Vol. 155 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tidal Wall at Baltray.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether a decision has been reached in regard to the application of the Louth County Council for a grant under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949, for the erection of a wall to prevent tidal deposits on the public road at Baltray, and, if not, when a decision is likely to be reached.

The Louth County Council have not adopted the proposal for the construction of a concrete wall on the public road at Baltray as one of the schemes to be carried out under the grant available to them for works under the Local Authorities (Works) Act in the current financial year. It is open to them to consider the scheme for execution under a future grant. They have been informed that there is no objection in principle to the work, but that technical details would have to be furnished before the scheme could be finally approved. No decision on the matter is therefore outstanding on my part at present.
