Vol. 155 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tipperary Bog Development.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether, in order to relieve the large amount of unemployment at present existing in the area, Bord na Móna propose to have Glenahilty bog, Cloughjordan, County Tipperary, developed with a view to producing peat moss and machine turf.

I am informed by Bord na Móna that it has no plans at present for the development of this bog for either peat moss or machine turf production. I am advised that the area of the bog is too small to permit of economical working on present standards and methods for either type of production.
