Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Loans to Farmers.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the amount of interest-free loans advanced to farmers in the year 1947, and the number of farmers who avail of such loans.

Loans advanced to farmers under the special temporary scheme of loans for the purchase of cattle and sheep which operated in 1947 amounted to £302,466 14s. 6d. The number of farmers who availed of such loans was 4,281.
