Vol. 156 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Fish Markets.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will make arrangements to secure a local market for at least a portion of the fish landed in South Kerry districts, which is at present forwarded to the Dublin market.

I have no compulsory powers in regard to the organising of local markets for fish as suggested. It must be presumed that fish landed in South Kerry is sold where the best financial return is obtainable and there would not seem to be any reason why fish landed there should not be available to local buyers providing that satisfactory prices are offered by them.
