Vol. 156 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Exile of Archbishop Makarios.

asked the Minister for External Affairs whether a resolution has been received in his Department from any local authority in Ireland condemning the action of the British Government in removing Archbishop Makarios from Cyprus, and, if so, what action has been taken, or is proposed to be taken in the matter.

In all, four resolutions have been received from various local authorities protesting against the action of the British authorities in removing Archbishop Makarios from Cyprus. No action has been, or is proposed to be, taken by the Government as it is believed that no useful purpose would be served by intervention with the British Government in this matter.
