As indicated during the debate on the Second Stage of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Bill, now before the Dáil, it is intended by the Government that a new assessment of the extent of the Fíor-Ghaeltacht should be made and that returns furnished in the recent census should be taken into account for that purpose (Parliamentary Debates, Volume 156, No. 6, column 685). The case of the district electoral division of Fanad West will receive the fullest consideration in the light of these returns when they become available.
