asked the Taoiseach if he will state (a) the total poor law valuation of land in the holdings officially classed as agricultural, and the total number of such holdings, (b) the total poor law valuation of the various buildings on such holdings differentiating, if possible, between residences and farm buildings.
Written Answers. - Valuation of Agricultural Holdings.
The total rateable valuation of land and buildings on agricultural holdings was £8.05 million in 1953, the latest year for which these particulars were collected in the agricultural statistical enumeration, and the number of such holdings (including 64,000 holdings under one acre) was 379,000 in that year. Separate particulars of the rateable valuation of land and buildings on agricultural holdings are not available.
It may be added that the total rateable valuation of all property according to the valuation lists in force on 1st March, 1953, and 1st March, 1956, divided between land, buildings and other hereditaments was as follows:—
