The numbers of prosecutions for the offence of illegal road haulage are not readily available as it is the practice, in compiling statistics in relation to offences against the Road Transport Act, 1933, to group this offence with ancillary offences against other sections of the Act. With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, particulars of all such offences in respect of each of the years 1951 to 1955, inclusive, will be circulated with the Official Report. Statistics are not available as to the number of cases investigated by the police and in which prosecutions were not instituted.
