Vol. 157 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Farm Improvements Scheme.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the reasons for the delay in paying grants under the farm improvements scheme to five applicants in the Rooskey, Doocastle area, particulars of which were submitted to his Department a very long time ago.

I am satisfied that there is no avoidable delay in payment of grants under the farm buildings scheme, but the Deputy will appreciate that where a limited staff is dealing with a very popular scheme a certain time lag is unavoidable.

The Deputy wrote to my Department on 30th January last about three cases. In one of these the grant was paid in February, and in two of them it was paid in April shortly after the works had been completed.

I regret I am unable to trace the other two cases enumerated by the Deputy, but if he will send me particulars I shall have immediate inquiries made.
