Vol. 157 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Damage to Mayo Road.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that the road leading into the forestry section at Moorehall, Ballyglass, County Mayo, is at present in a very bad state of repair because of use by the Forestry Division of his Department, and that some years ago the Land Commission repaired this road and charged the tenant users an increased rent towards the cost of repair; and, if so, if the Forestry Division will make good forthwith the damage they have caused and put the road in a proper state of repair.

The road in question has not been used to any significant extent by the Forestry Division of my Department in the past five years. Nevertheless I will have the position examined and if the use of the road by my Department has been excessive I will consider the question of a contribution towards its repair.
