Vol. 157 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford Rural Cottage Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the reason for the delay in arriving at a decision on the case made by the Waterford County Council to secure a number of sites for a rural cottage scheme, which was the subject of an inquiry some months ago.

The acquisition of 63 of the 105 sites in question was confirmed by me by Order dated 23rd January last. The opposition to the acquisition of the remaining 42 sites raises complex issues which are at present sub judice. I am, therefore, unable to give details in reply to a parliamentary question but all the circumstances will be reviewed when my decisions are being communicated to the local authority. I expect to be in a position to do this in about six weeks.
