Vol. 158 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Revenue from Hydrocarbon Oil Taxes.

Mr. Lemass

asked the Minister for Finance if he will give an estimate of the amount of the additional revenue anticipated from the increased taxes on hydrocarbon oils which may be paid on fuel oils used in manufacturing industry.

The statistics available are not such as would enable me to make a reliable estimate on the lines requested by the Deputy. However, if the yield from fuel oils used in the production of gas and electric power is included, it may be taken that a large proportion of the additional revenue from fuel oils expected this year will be derived from oils used in manufacturing industry.
