Vol. 158 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Special Allowances: Gaeltacht Children's Grants.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that the grant payable in respect of children in Gaeltacht areas is being taken into account in reckoning the means of applicants for special allowances, and if he will take steps to have moneys paid under this language preservation scheme excluded from the calculation of means for such purposes.

I am aware that these grants are assessed as means for the award of special allowances under the Army Pensions Acts. I am having the matter examined with a view to having them excluded.
