Vol. 159 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballybunion Auxiliary Creamery.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that the building of an auxiliary creamery at Doon, Ballybunion, is held up by reason of the delay in sanctioning the scheme, proposed by the Kerry County Council, for the extension of a water supply to Doon, and if he will state the cause of the long delay in sanctioning the proposed scheme.

In 1952 this extension was accorded the lowest priority of 29 schemes under consideration by Kerry County Council and in a revised list prepared this year it had dropped to 30th place. Outline proposals for the Doon extension were received in my Department on the 28th March, 1956, but it was not until the 21st June that a letter was received stating that the council proposed to give top priority to the extension to facilitate the provision of a creamery. Approval has since been given subject to the council being satisfied that the supply to the creamery will not interfere with the supply to domestic consumers.
