Vol. 160 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clerical Positions in State-Sponsored Bodies.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the fact that clerical positions in State-sponsored organisations which are under the aegis of his Department, are confined to boys and girls who hold secondary school leaving certificates, he will ask such concerns to amend their regulations in this respect so that all boys and girls can compete for these appointments until such time as every child, who wishes to obtain it, is provided with free secondary and university education.

The recruitment of clerical staff by State-sponsored organisations under the control of my Department is a matter for the organisations concerned. I have no function in the matter.
