asked the Minister for Education what proposals are at present before his Department for the erection of new national schools in County Limerick, and if he will state the position in each case.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving particulars of the proposals for the erection of new national schools in the County of Limerick and the present position in each case.

A grant has been sanctioned by the Department towards the coat of the erection of a now school and working drawings and specification for the building have been prepared by the Commissioners of Public Works. Before tenders can be invited it will be necessary to have Bills of Quantities prepared by a Quantity Surveyor. Because, however, ot the fact that the Commissioners' existing contractual commitments in respect of expenditure of grants on school building and improvements in the current financial year will fully exhaust the amount provided in the Estimates for Public Services under Vote 9, it is not possible to say, at present, when the Commissioners may be in a position to invite tenders. |
