Vol. 160 No. 9

Committee on Finance. - Introduction of New Members.

Mr. Noel Lemass, the new member for Dublin South-West, was introduced to the Ceann Comhairle by Deputy Donnchadh Ó Briain and took his seat.
Mr. Martin Medlar, the new member for Carlow-Kilkenny, was introduced to the Ceann Comhairle by Deputy Hilliard and took his seat.

What about the will of the people now?

Did you get much fun by importing all the people into the gallery?

Are you going to get out of there?

Now, now. Respect for the dead.

I would like to remind Deputies of their responsibility for the conduct of the visitors they introduce into the Visitors' Gallery. Visitors are not allowed to take part in the deliberations in this House. Members are the only people entitled to take part in the deliberations in this House. Visitors are not allowed to express their approval or disapproval of Dáil proceedings.

We will leave it now to the self-sacrificing lawyers in the Coalition.

The Deputy never did much self-sacrificing.

Leave it to the ten fields of inspectors.

Sir, I was going to ask you to say that it is not proper for any member of this House, myself included, to refer to any person who is not a member of the House in the course of discussion.

I do not know to what the Deputy is referring.

Now that the boys have had their fun, we can get down to some proper business.
