Vol. 160 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Employment and Bog Development Schemes.

asked the Minister for Finance whether the lists of employment and bog development schemes for the coming winter are now available, and, if not, when he will be in a position to supply details.

The minor employment schemes lists issued on 26th October, 1956, to the 12 counties in which allocations are made. Copies of the lists were made available on the 27th October, 1956, to all Deputies who asked for them. The winter bog development schemes lists for seven counties issued on the 19th November, 1956. Copies of these lists were posted on the 20th November, 1956, to the Deputies who asked for them. The bog development schemes lists for the remaining counties are at various stages of preparation and are not yet ready to issue.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary say if these schemes were available to anybody, prior to their being circulated to Deputies?

To anybody?

Yes, for use in public.

Not for use in public.

For use in public or private?

I answered, the question that I was asked and will Deputy "McGinty" keep out of this?

All right, Red Jacket.

I want to ask the Parliamentary Secretary if it has now become the practice of the Special Employment Schemes Office to make available the list of schemes for the Parliamentary Secretary to circulate to the people concerned in his constituency a fortnight prior to their being made available to Deputies of this House? I should like to say that, were it not for the fact that I put down a question a week ago, I am satisfied that those schemes would not be available until some other time. The State car has been used in the Parliamentary Secretary's constituency in order to try to fool the people again——

What about the calves?

If the State car is going around North Galway, it is going around with the Parliamentary Secretary as Deputy Donnellan representing the people of his constituency in North Galway. Before I ever had a State car I did that, and if I had one for the rest of my life, or if I lose it to-morrow, I will still represent my people, whether they are in the bogs or on the highways.
