Vol. 160 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Registered Unemployed.

Major de Valera

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state the number of unemployed on the registers at employment exchanges and branch offices of his Department at the latest available date and at the corresponding dates in 1954 and 1955.

The latest date for which the information is available is the 17th November, 1956. On that date there were 69,926 persons registered at the local offices of my Department. The numbers registered on the corresponding dates in 1954 and 1955 were 61,184 and 54,151, respectively.
