Vol. 160 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Migration of Mayo Farmer.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that Mr. Patrick Moran, Owenwee, Westport, County Mayo, cannot send his children to school because of the very dangerous passageway which crosses the Belclare river to his house, and that Mr. Moran has been endeavouring to get an exchange of holding from the Land Commission and is prepared to go anywhere to get out of his present practically inaccessible holding; and if, in view of the particular hardship in this case, he will ask the Land Commission to provide Mr. Moran with a migrant's holding forthwith.

I am aware of the circumstances of this particular case, which is under consideration by the Land Commission. If it does not prove feasible to migrate this family, every effort will be made to effect an early improvement in their present conditions by other means.
