Vol. 160 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - County Dublin Small Dwellings Loans.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that in the County Dublin area 480 persons who applied last March for loans under the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts have now had their applications rejected; and if so, if he will make additional funds available to the council in order that the applications in question may be granted.

To give effect to the policy of confining advances under the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts to persons who could not reasonably be expected to finance the provision of their houses otherwise, the Dublin County Council have imposed certain restrictions on advances under the Acts. Applications which do not qualify under these restrictions are rejected by the council. I am not prepared to recommend additional issues from the Local Loans Fund for the purpose of admitting these applications.
