Vol. 160 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Day-old Chicks in West Galway.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state in respect of 1956 the price per dozen paid for day-old chicks supplied by his Department to applicants in West Galway, and the price which his Department propose to charge next year.

The price paid by residents in Connemara for day-old chicks supplied in the 1955-56 season under my Department's scheme for the distribution of day-old chicks in certain Gaeltacht areas was 5/- per dozen.

As already announced in the Press, the price of chicks under the scheme in the coming season will be 10/- per dozen, that is, approximately half of the price to be paid to the hatcheries for the chicks.
