Vol. 160 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Leases of Petrol Filling Stations.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that during recent years various petrol companies have secured leases of numerous petrol filling stations in this country; and if, in view of the fact that these leases contain restrictive conditions that have proven most objectionable in other countries, he will take immediate action to put a stop to the practice.

Any interests claiming to be adversely affected by the operation of alleged restrictive trade practices on the part of the petroleum companies are free to bring the matter to the notice of the Fair Trade Commission, which is the body appointed by statute to investigate practices of this kind.

I wish to give notice that I will raise the subject matter of this question on the Adjournment.

I have no function.

I shall communicate with the Deputy.
