Vol. 161 No. 2

Committee on Finance. - Vote 69—Repayments to Contingency Fund.

I move:—

That a sum not exceeding £569 be granted to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1957, for the repayment to the Contingency Fund of certain Miscellaneous Advances.

The purpose of this Additional Estimate, which is taken towards the end of the financial year, is to repay to the Contingency Fund the amount spent since 31st March, 1956. At the end of each year, the Fund is restored to £20,000 and this is the sum required this year for that purpose.

Has the Minister made more than one payment to any particular person under Part (3) of the sub-head?

There were seven.

Not seven payments to one person surely?

Have there been seven sets of triplets?

Seven multiplied by three.

There is no danger of the Irish vanishing yet. Some people think there is.

It is not a great encouragement, anyway.

Vote put and agreed to.
Supplementary and Additional Estimates reported and agreed to.
