Vol. 161 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tipperary Housing Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the present position in regard to sanction for the building of 16 houses in Roscrea and 24 houses under compulsory purchase orders in the Templemore-Roscrea area, referred to his Department in June, 1956.

A proposal by the Tipperary (N.R.) County Council to erect 16 houses at Glentara, Roscrea, was discussed last month by technical officers of the Department and the council. The submission by the council of documents revised in accordance with amendments agreed to in these discussions is awaited.

Approval was given in February last to a proposal to erect four cottages by direct labour on sites acquired under the Roscrea-Bourney Compulsory Purchase Order. Proposals to accept tenders for the erection of a further 18 cottages on sites acquired under this Order are at present before my Department.

The two unsanctioned proposals have been placed in that category of pending works which cannot be started until the year 1958 unless the capital position improves in the meantime.
