Vol. 161 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Curragh Camp Married Quarters.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state how many applications are on hands for each type of married quarters at the Curragh Camp, and when it is expected that accommodation will be available for each applicant.

Married quarters in the Curragh are of three types—"A" type (with one bedroom), "B" type (with two bedrooms) and "C" type (with three bedrooms).

There are no applications on hands for the "A" type quarters. For "B" type there are 66 applicants, of whom ten are not in occupation of quarters. The remaining 56 are housed in other type quarters.

The total number of applicants for "C" type accommodation is 53, nine of whom are not in occupation of quarters and 44 of whom are housed in other types of quarters.

With the completion in the course of a few months of the new houses under construction and the conversion of existing quarters, the total number of quarters will be sufficient to accommodate in one type of quarters or another all but four of the applicants listed. It should be possible to accommodate these four families within a reasonable period as quarters become available due to discharges, transfers, etc.

Could the Minister say how many "A" quarters are available for which he has no applications?

No. I have not got that information.
