Vol. 161 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cleaning of Tipperary River.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received a proposal from the Tipperary (N.R.) County Council for the cleaning of the Carrigahorrig river and, if so, whether he will allocate a grant for this important scheme.

No detailed scheme has been received but the local authority has recently inquired whether the cleaning of this river over a period of years would be an appropriate scheme under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949. The question has not yet been answered but an affirmative reply is unlikely owing to the nature of the work involved and the fact that thereby I would be committing the Dáil to the voting of the moneys involved in future financial years.
