Vol. 161 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Foreign Trawlers off Cork Coast.

asked the Minister for Lands if he has received a resolution from Skibbereen Urban District Council protesting against the encroachment of foreign trawlers in territorial waters; if he is aware that a haul of fish and valuable new nets, the property of Mr. Joseph O'Driscoll, Cape Clear, County Cork, were recently destroyed by a foreign trawler; and whether he proposes to take steps (a) to compensate Mr. O'Driscoll for his loss in order to enable him to continue in his way of living, and (b) to ensure that there will be no recurrence of such an incident.

I have received the resolution in question. There is nothing which I can usefully add just yet to the reply which I gave on 25th April, 1957, to a question in the same connection from Deputy M. P. Murphy.
