Vol. 161 No. 9

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Department of Health Promotions.

asked the Minister for Health if in respect of each officer of his Department promoted between the 30th September, 1956, and 21st March, 1957, he will give particulars of (a) his grade immediately prior to 2nd June, 1954, (b) his grade and duties immediately prior to promotion, (c) the date of his promotion, (d) his grade and duties on promotion, and (e) his duties at present.

An executive officer who had been performing the normal duties of his grade in a section of the Department was promoted on 20th December, 1956, to the grade of higher executive officer (acting) and since that date has been performing the normal duties of his new grade in another section of the Department.

In addition, two officers, an executive officer and a clerical officer, who had previously been serving in other Departments as clerical officer and shorthand typist respectively were, on 17th January, 1957, and 24th November, 1956, assigned to my Department on their promotion following normal inter-Department competitions. Both have, since the date of transfer, been performing the normal duties of their new grades in sections of the Department.

Would the Minister state if it is a fact that a civil servant, transferred from the Department of Industry and Commerce, is to be made a higher executive in his Department as a result of a direction given by the outgoing Government?

I should require notice of that question.
