Vol. 161 No. 9

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Hire of Taxis.

andMr. P. J. Burke asked the Minister for Justice if he will ascertain from the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána whether instructions have been given to the Gardaí to take action against any driver of a hackney who offers in a public place himself and such vehicle for immediate hire for the carriage of passengers for reward.

The Garda Síochána have general instructions to enforce the law. No special instructions with respect to the matter referred to in the question have been issued and, as far as the Commissioner is aware, no such instructions are necessary.
