Vol. 161 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dismissals at Curragh Camp.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the number of employees of each grade employed at the Curragh Camp who have been given notice of dismissal since the 20th March last; whether it is intended to terminate the services of additional staff, and if so, how many, and from what grades.

One draughtsman, six carpenters and ten building labourers employed at the Curragh Training Camp have been given notice of dismissal due to redundancy since the 20th March last. The question of terminating the services of additional employees at the Camp on the grounds of redundancy is at present under consideration.

The redundancy has arisen because of the fact that the programme of works for this year planned by the previous Government does not provide for employment on the same scale as last year.

If you do not like it, why do you not change it?
