Vol. 161 No. 15

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary tell the House why it has been necessary to put down four separate questions to get one piece of simple information, which must have been before the Minister for Finance when he framed his Budget?

The information was not, as suggested by the Deputy, in the Department. It could be got only with considerable research.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that the Industrial Credit Company made a report to the previous Government in January, 1955, which incorporated all that information, as he has now admitted by his reply, and that the Minister for Finance must have had it before him when he formulated his Budget? What was the Minister trying to hide?

The Department had to go to various sources in order to get the information which has now been supplied.

What was the Government trying to hide?

What was Deputy Sweetman trying to hide when he ran away from his Budget? He called for a general election.

Will the Minister for Health speak on the Budget?
