Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification in Kerry Fíor-Ghaeltacht.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if the E.S.B. have made the usual electrification survey and canvass of the Fíor-Ghaeltacht district west of Dingle in the parties of Dingle, Ventry and Ballyferriter, and when they propose to start operations there.

I am informed by the E.S.B. that the parishes of Dingle, Ventry and Ballyferriter are included in the Ballyferriter area, in which an official canvass was carried out early in 1954. The area has not so far been selected for development as its returns did not compare favourably with those for other areas awaiting development in the board's Tralee district. The area will be reconsidered in due course and the decision of the board will depend on how its returns then compare with those for other areas awaiting development in the Tralee district.

Has there been no further development in the talks between the Parliamentary Secretary's Department and the Gaeltacht Department in this matter?
