asked the Minister for Lands whether his attention has been directed to the indignation felt by the residents at Seaview Terrace and Nutley Road, Donnybrook, at the action of a private person in seeking to fell a copper beech tree of outstanding beauty; whether the person proposing to fell the tree sought any permission from his Department; whether such permission is required by statute or otherwise; and if he has any powers to pervent this destruction.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Feeling of Copper Beech Tree.
Permission for the felling of the tree in question was not sought from my Department. Such permission is not required since trees standing in a county borough or urban district were specifically excluded from the operation of those provisions of the Forestry Act, 1946, which impose restirction on the felling of trees.
