Vol. 162 No. 7

Written Answers. - Produce of Income-tax.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the net produce of income-tax for each of the last five financial years under the headings of (1) salaries and wages, (2) ownership of lands and houses, (3) farming profits, (4) foreign dividends and untaxed interests, (5) professional, and (7) profits of companies.

I would refer the Deputy to the answer given to-day to Question No. 53 which gives particulars of the net produce of income-tax under each schedule. The particulars now asked for under the headings specified in the Deputy's question have been given under the following schedules, respectively, viz. (1) under Schedule E, (2) under Schedule A, (3) under Schedule B, (4), (5), (6) and (7) together under Schedules C and D combined.

As certain classes of the income specified under heading (4) are chargeable to income-tax under Schedule C, while other classes of that income are chargeable under Schedule D, it is not possible to relate heading (4) exclusive to either schedule. Statistics are not available to enable separate particulars to be given for the headings (5), (6) and (7) in the Deputy's question.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the net produce of inome-tax under each schedule for the past five years, and the percentage of the whole in each case.

Particulars in respect of the years 1955-56 and 1956-57 are not yet available. The particulars for the other years are as follows:—
