Vol. 162 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Assistance.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if, having regard to the anticipated improvement in the unemployment position during the coming months, he will state the estimated additional cost of providing an increase of 10/- per week to those drawing the maximum amount of unemployment assistance, and pro rata for the lower categories.

It is estimated that an additional annual sum of approximately £380,000 would be required to provide an increase of 10/- per week in the maximum rate of unemployment assistance payable under the Social Welfare Act, 1957, and pro rata increases in the other rates.
