Vol. 163 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Pollock.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware of the decision of An Bord Iascaigh Mhara which resulted in a reduction from 6/- to 4/- per stone in the price paid to fishermen for pollock; whether he has received protests from fishermen on Inishboffin Island against the decision; and if he will make a statement.

I am informed by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara that, while this matter is under consideration by the board, no decision has been made to vary the price of white pollock purchased from fishermen from Inishboffin Island.

No protests have been received in my Department but I understand that representations have been made in the normal way to An Bord Iascaigh Mhara who will, no doubt, weigh them very carefully before coming to a decision.
