Vol. 163 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Salmon Trout Anglers.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will consider introducing a reduced licence fee for anglers who desire to fish for salmon trout only, as distinct from salmon.

It is virtually impossible to distinguish between the lures used by anglers for the capture of salmon and those used for sea trout. In view of this it would not be feasible to prescribe a separate reduced rod licence duty for sea trout.

Has the Minister a break-down of the figures as between salmon and sea trout?

The number of salmon and sea trout captured by holders of salmon rod licences were those two figures I have already given in respect of salmon and sea trout respectively for the year 1956.

I am sorry. I did not catch that.
