Vol. 163 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Laois Estates.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have instituted acquisition proceedings in connection with the Franks estate, Castletown, Mountrath, Laois, and, if so, when a scheme of allotment will be prepared.

Negotiations for the purchase of this estate have reached an advanced stage but possession has not yet been obtained. It is not possible to indicate at present when allotment will take place.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring the Harpur estate, Transtown, Ballacolla, Laois, and, if so, with what result.

As there are absolutely no grounds for instituting proceedings for the compulsory acquisition of these lands the Land Commission have decided to take no action.
