Vol. 163 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification in North Mayo.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether any steps have been taken to extend rural electrification to the electoral divisions of (1) Glenamoy, (2) Muings, and (3) Muingnabo.

I am informed by the E.S.B. that they propose to carry out an official canvass of the residents of the Glenamoy area, which includes Muings and Muingnabo, as soon as it can conveniently be arranged. The area will be considered for selection in due course and the decision of the board will depend on how the returns compare with those for other areas awaiting development in the Sligo district.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state when rural electrification will be started in the Toomore, Foxford, area.

I am informed by the E.S.B. that the Toomore area has been considered for selection on a number of occasion but has not, so far, been selected as its returns did not compare favourably with those of other areas awaiting development in the board's Sligo district. The area will be reconsidered in due course and the decision of the board will depend on how the returns then compare with those for other areas awaiting development in the Sligo district.
