Vol. 163 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Duties on Crash Helmets.

asked the Minister for Finance if, in order to encourage the wearing of crash helmets and thereby prevent serious injury or loss of life, he will take steps to have the levy and import duties on these articles removed.

Arising out of representations which have been received, the question of relief for the articles mentioned from Special Import Levy and ordinary customs duty is at present under consideration.

In giving these matters consideration, will the Minister for Finance take into account the fact that members of the Fianna Fáil Party will certainly require crash helmets to protect them from the outraged electorate?
