Vol. 164 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Milk Costings Commission.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he has yet received the report of the Milk Costings Commission, and, if so, what steps he has taken, or intends to take, to implement its recommendations; and, further, if he will state the total expenditure incurred on the commission to date.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state whether he has yet received the report of the Milk Costings Commission, and, if so, on what date, and what action he proposes to take in respect thereof.

Mr. Moylan

I propose, a Cheann Comhairle, with your permission, to take Questions Nos. 50 and 51 together.

I have not yet received the report of the Committee on Milk Production Costs and, as I indicated in reply to a similar question on the 19th June last, immediately I receive the report, I will announce the fact.

The total cost of the investigation up to 16th October, 1957, was £31,793.

Oh! What does Deputy Ó Briain say to that?

And Deputy Moloney?

My heart goes out to poor Deputy Ó Briain.

The "bob" a gallon milk finished you.

I am sure there is a precedent for that reply.

Might I inquire are they still being paid for this farce?

Mr. Moylan

Does the Deputy call it a farce?

Yes, emphatically. It was a farce when you started it and it is a farce as you carry it on.

The Deputy waited for two years.

I did, God help me. Well may you laugh at it but God help the farmers you took in.
