Vol. 164 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - River Improvement in Monaghan and Cavan.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when he proposes to implement the scheme for the improvement of the Dromore River, which was prepared by the Office of Public Works to cover the Dromore River from the Ballybay Lakes to the Annalee River, with improvement of the tributary Drum River, and was designed to benefit an area in County Monaghan and County Cavan.

Mr. Moylan

I am advised by the Office of Public Works that a scheme for the improvement of the Dromore and Drum Rivers is in an advanced state of preparation. Until the scheme is prepared, it will not be possible to state what steps can be taken to implement it.

Will the Minister bear in mind that in regard to this river— the Dromore River—there has been a long agitation, going back over 30 years, to secure the relief envisaged in this scheme and, bearing that in mind, do anything he can to expedite its implementation, when completed by the Board of Works?

Mr. Moylan

I shall be glad to.

Thank you.
