Written Answers. - Employment Under Local Authorities (Works) Act Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in respect of each county council area the average number employed on Local Authority (Works) Act schemes in the months of January, February, March, October, November, and December in each of the years 1954, 1955, 1956 and 1957.

The statistics of employment by local authorities on schemes under the Local Authorities (Works) Act available in the Department relate to the end of the month. Returns have not been received from local authorities in respect of October, 1957, in view of the cessation of grants for such schemes in the current financial year. Following are the particulars for the other months:—
