Vol. 164 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Taxes on Price Index Items.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) the items in the consumer price index which are subject to customs and excise duty, or tax, and (b) the amount of tax per item.

Apart from the rates of entertainments duty applicable to cinemas and dances, the information requested by the Deputy is contained in the Customs and Excise Tariff and Tariff Supplement. I have arranged for the compilation of information which should facilitate reference to the tariff and supplement. This will take some time and I would ask the Deputy to repeat his question in a week's time when I should be in the position to furnish him with this information as well as the particulars of the relevant entertainment duty rates.
