Vol. 164 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Small Dwellings Loans.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of the increase in the bank rate, he will state the rate at which loans will be granted under the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts.

The rate of interest to be charged by local authorities on advances under the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts is a matter for determination by the local authority making the advance.

The rate of interest on loans to local authorities from the Local Loans Fund to enable them to make the advances will be as heretofore for the remainder of the current financial year.

Is the Minister aware that when the bank rate previously increased the Coalition Government allowed the interest on small dwellings to increase also, and that he is to be congratulated on the steps he has taken to allow that interest rate to remain static?
