Vol. 164 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dunmanway Forest Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the arrangements for the acquisition of the Coolkelure estate, Dunmanway, for afforestation purposes are now complete, and, if so, when it is proposed to commence work there.

My Department has agreed to purchase 814 acres of the Coolkelure estate but the sale has not yet been closed. The title position is extremely complex and I am not at present in a position to indicate when possession of the lands will be taken or when forestry operations will be commenced there.

Could the Minister give any idea of the approximate date when this work will be completed? We have been told from time to time that it will be finalised in the course of a few months.

As I have already informed the Deputy, there are complications and I am unable to state when the matter will be concluded.
