asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state the estimated amount received each year for the last ten years from sales of stamps for philatelic purposes.
Written Answers. - Stamp Sales for Philatelic Purposes.
It is impossible to assess with any degree of firmness the full extent of sales of stamps for philatelic purposes. The figures given hereunder have been compiled from records of sales at the Philatelic Section, G.P.O., Dublin, from sales of stamp brochures, and from estimates of abnormal sales at post offices on the occasions of new commemorative issues. The figures do not include any estimate of day to day purchases of stamps by the public which may be intended for philatelic purposes but which there is no official means of identifying as such.
