Vol. 164 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cost of Subsidy on Butter Sales Abroad.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the cost of subsidising the sale of butter outside the State for the period 1st April to 30th September, 1957.

The cost is estimated at £1,556,870.

Will the Minister state to the House here and now: does he want an increase in butter production or not?

The Deputy should give special notice of that question.

The Deputy has asked that question on four different debates in this House and every Minister ducked it.

But the Deputy did not put it on the paper to-day.

Why does the Minister not answer it? Perhaps he is not to be Minister for Agriculture after all. Will he answer the question?
